How does online tutoring work?
Online tutoring sessions are conducted over Zoom or Skype at an agreed upon day and time each week. It takes place in the comfort of your own space, so no traveling is required.
How do you determine the reading needs of your clients?
An initial consultation will take place to discuss reading concerns. After the initial consultaion, an assessment is done to determine the reading gaps.
How long are the tutoring sessions?
Tutoring session lengths are determined by the student's age, needs, and the student's schedule. Typical sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes in length.
What age group do you work with?
I work with children of all ages. I also tutor adults.
Do you do in home tutoring?
Home tutoring is provided for students that live in my home area.

Do you work with children with disabilities?
I have been a speical education teacher since 2003, and I have worked with learning disabled children from toddler through high school. Children with special needs are welcome.
How do you plan each lesson?
Each lesson is focused on the individual learning needs of the student. The lessons are diagnostic and prescriptive. They are not "one size fits all." I continuously monitor the student to identify and analyze progress. I then use the information to strategically plan my next lesson to address areas of concern and to reinforce previous concepts.
What is Orton Gillingham?
The Orton Gillingham is not a curriculum or teaching method. It is a multisensory approach, that is scientifically based, to teaching reading and spelling to students who stuggle with language based learning difficulties like dyslexia. It utilizes the three learning methods, which are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Each lesson is tailored to the specific needs of the student.

How is dyslexia diagnosed?
Dyslexia is diagnosed through a comprehensive evaluation. This includes intellectual and achievement testing.
Is there a treatment for dyslexia?
Although there is not cure for dyslexia because it is a lifelong condition, there is a treatment for it.
Do you provide reading assessments?
I do reading assessments. I provide a full report that includes reading strenghts and weaknesses.
Do you screen for dyslexia?
I can screen for dyslexia, but I do not diagnosis. Only a doctor, neurologist, or licensed educational psycholoist can give a formal diagnosis of dyslexia.

On Cloud Nine is a program of instruction that uses concrete manipulatives, mental imagery, and language to establish concepts needed to reason and solve problems with numbers.
What is Lindamood-Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing program?
It is a program to improve readingcomprehension, oral language comprehension and expression, written language expression, and critical thinking skills through the development of concept imagery.
